Building Akeneo's Growth Edition

Designing and launching a new mid-market offering to bridge the gap between Open Source and Enterprise.

The Challenge

Bridging the gap between Open Source and Enterprise

Customer conversations and market feedback revealed a growing gap in Akeneo’s product portfolio.

Many mid-market companies had outgrown the free Open Source Community Edition but weren’t yet ready for the Enterprise offering, leaving an underserved segment with no solution tailored to their needs.

The challenge was to define and launch a new offer that addressed this market opportunity without creating confusion across the existing product portfolio.

The Approach

What we did

1

Shape the go-to-market strategy

Working closely with Product, Sales, Marketing and Partner teams, I played a key role in shaping the go-to-market strategy for what became Akeneo Growth Edition.

2

Define positioning and packaging

I contributed to defining the positioning, messaging, value proposition, ideal customer profile, pricing and packaging, ensuring the offer clearly differentiated itself from both Community Edition and Enterprise Edition.

3

Design the buyer and customer journey

Beyond the offer itself, I designed the buyer and customer Journey for the Commercial segment, created sales enablement materials including playbooks, battle cards, feature comparison guides and presentations, and collaborated with Marketing to update the website, messaging and lead generation assets.

4

Create upgrade paths

I also defined migration paths to help customers naturally evolve from Growth Edition toward higher-value Enterprise plans.

Key Takeaway

Successful product launches don't start with features.

Successful product launches don’t start with features.

They start by identifying an underserved customer segment, understanding its needs, and designing an offer that creates value for both customers and the business.
